Moringa, the miracle plant

The plant Moringa Oleifera is often referred to as the miracle tree. Moringa has been a healing and herbal medicinal source for many many years, across a variety of communities. Originating from India, it now grows in many hot countries all over the world. It assists with many conditions and recently, it has also been used topically on the skin as an external face mask.

Moringa is absolutely bursting with vitamins, minerals and nutrients. It contains vitamins A- E, minerals of magnesium, calcium, and iron, folic acid and fibre. Given that the recent pandemic has highlighted how important the immune system is, vitamin C (alongside vitamin d and k), is an excellent immunity booster. From first hand experience, this winter when we have felt rundown or felt a cold creeping in, boiling moringa leaves in hot water and drinking it twice daily, along with a few more hours extra sleep, kept the cold symptoms at bay, minus a few sniffles here and there.

It is an all round plant that is great for managing various health conditions- high blood sugar levels being one of them. Moringa has also graced the skin care scene and is said to provide a great glow to the skin.

Due to it’s extremely high iron content, anyone that needs to avoid excessive iron should limit having high quantities of moringa. Like anything, it is just being sensible- if you are taking moringa to treat feeling run down, a short intense regular dosage would do no harm. If it is to slowly improve your overall health and well being or boost a mineral in your body for example, then adding the powder to your daily smoothie once a day or a few times weekly is perfect.

Like anything, please consult your pharmacist or GP if you are on any other medication prior to purchasing moringa- or feel free to send us a message.
