Finding Positives During Self- Isolation

The third week of lockdown is drawing to an end. How are you feeling? Now more than ever is the opportunity and sign to focus inward.

Any part of yourself that you have been neglecting spiritually, nutritionally, physically or creatively can now be attended to and nurtured. Any odd jobs around the house can be finished. Skills and courses online can be learnt and completed since you know have the time.

This lockdown has provided us with a fantastic opportunity to channel our energies into ours well-being and development. Even if you feel anxious or fearful, now is the time to inquire into meditation techniques and practice meditation and deep breathing in order to help yourself feel calmer and accept what is beyond our control. And you will have come away with a wonderful life skill.

It is a break from the ordinary under tragic circumstances. However, in this break from the ordinary you will see what is fundamental to your life and well-being and what doesn’t serve this. It is a chance to be innovative with your entertainment, practical skills, cooking, self-development and growth.

It is a chance to build stronger bridges within your local community, and neighbours who you may not really talk to. It is a chance to reconnect with an old friend or a loved one you may have neglected. It can bring out the best in us, if you just give yourself permission to allow your higher self to emerge.

And, finally, it is a chance to identify what is truly essential in your life and for those around you. We have seen that the NHS staff, supermarket employees and transport drivers are essential to the functioning and well-being of society. Consider de-cluttering what is no longer essential to you.

This lockdown has provided us with many chances to look inward, transform and love ourselves and others around us. Be thankful for the chance to re-set and re-direct.
