Health is Wealth. A simple expression. For many of us, until a setback or illness crops up in our lives, the word wealth initiates a variety of images in our mind. Money, luxuries, a comfortable lifestyle. Financial security opens the doors to many opportunities and helps us to sustain a standard of living.
But, does putting your own physical and mental health on the line justify wealth in this sense? There is nothing wrong with striving for the best lifestyle possible. Just take a few moments to stop and think about how it is making you feel and function. If you are burning yourself out, how can you enjoy what you have put in so much effort to achieve?
When you’re tired or unwell or feeling down, have you noticed the knock on effect it has on your productivity and other areas of your life?
Having the choice to step outside with a smile on your face, because you have nourished yourself, mentally, physically, and emotionally is a wonderful thing. It will provide you with the most solid platform to obtain common human desires- flowing finances, a career, love, providing for your family, entertainment activities, vacations.
All of these can be pursued as they have significant value in our lives, but one of the main priorities should be your health. If you set aside some time to monitor and care for your well-being overall, rather than when an ailment occurs, you are striving towards longevity of yourself, and all the things that you love and enjoy.
A holistic health approach, as we previously discussed covers not only an assessment and understanding of the body, it is a lifestyle which recognises how things are connected therefore we need to value the health of our mind, of our body and of our spirit.
